What attracted you to study Business Analytics at the School of Management?

My academic background was in business, but as my career progressed, I increasingly moved into data analytics roles. I realised I needed a more structured and formal education in this area—something that could complement my experience, strengthen my CV, and deepen my technical foundations.

The MSc in Business Analytics at the University of Bath stood out as the ideal choice. It offered the right balance between technical training, like programming and data analysis, and practical business application, which aligned perfectly with my career goals. The flexibility of studying part-time and remotely was also a major factor, as I was working full-time and relocating to Bangkok, Thailand. The structure allowed me to grow professionally while gaining a world-class education.

How did you find out about the University of Bath?

At the time, I was living in London and began researching UK universities that offered strong programmes in Business Analytics. I also reached out to friends and colleagues in the UK to get their recommendations, and the University of Bath came up repeatedly in conversations.

When I looked into the programme in more detail, especially the university’s strong rankings and reputation, it became clear that Bath offered the academic quality and credibility I was looking for.

What was your favourite part of the MSc program, and why?

For me, the dissertation was the most rewarding part of the MSc programme. It was the opportunity to bring together everything I had learned over the two years — from the technical skills like programming to the analysis of the results — and have an impact in a real-world challenge within my company.

Not only was I able to explore a topic I was genuinely passionate about, but I could also generate insights that had tangible value for the business.

Even though the MSc format was remote, I still had the chance to connect with classmates from a wide range of cultural and professional backgrounds, which I found incredibly enriching.

What was your experience interacting with fellow students from different cultural backgrounds?

One of the highlights for me was becoming close friends with a fellow student who was based in Uganda at the time. We stayed in touch throughout the course, and after he completed the MSc and moved to Dubai, I had the chance to visit him there and meet face to face.

What advice would you give to someone in Spain considering studying Business Analytics at the School of Management?

I would tell them to go for it. Having a highly respected university such as the University of Bath on  your CV will open doors, both in Spain and internationally.

Also, and aside from the academic and career benefits, the programme offers a rich international experience, especially if you decide to study on-site. Such experience will connect you with people from all over the world, giving you the opportunity to exchange life experiences. And of course, it is also the best opportunity to practice and improve your English.

How did studying at the School of Management support your career ambitions?

When I began the MSc, I was in the middle of a career transition. Even during the interview process, several companies took a keen interest in the fact that I was studying Business Analytics at the University of Bath—it helped me stand out as a candidate.

After securing a new role and relocating to Thailand, my employer was very supportive of my studies and saw the degree as an asset that would contribute to my growth within the company.

Ultimately, completing the programme gave me the knowledge and confidence to take the leap and start my own business in data analytics, something I had long aspired to do.

The MSc helped me close the gap between my business background and the technical expertise I needed to grow in the space of data analytics. I gained a deep understanding of how to collect, structure, and analyse data to extract meaningful insights that can directly impact business decisions.

What skills did you learn from the MSc, and how did they help you when founding your own business?

What I have learned has been key in launching my own consulting business, Pyros, which offers data analytics services to companies across various industries. I provide services that go from more simple tasks such as Excel automation, to more advanced analytics such as forecasting or segmentation, all covered in the programme.

What career aspirations do you have for the next five years?

Over the next five years, my goal is to scale both of my current businesses (one in the sports industry and the other in data consulting) and eventually explore opportunities for exit or acquisition. I am passionate about entrepreneurship, so in the future I would like to keep launching new ventures.

The MSc in Business Analytics from the University of Bath has equipped me with the skills to make smarter, data-driven decisions and to approach business challenges with a more analytical and strategic mindset.
